YOU CAN BE LUCKIER RIGHT NOW

 

I’m so excited about our new book. What started as an intriguing idea—to learn how to add more luck in life--became one of the most exciting experiences I've had. And I'm thrilled to share it.

 

When I started thinking about luck, I turned to my friend Dr. Barnaby Marsh who had been thinking about luck and risk since he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. Now he has appointments at both Princeton and Harvard and the topic intrigued him enough that he launched a Luck Lab at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton--the home base of Albert Einstein and many other brilliant minds. 

 

Working with Barnaby, I discovered that luck doesn't just fall from the sky. We make our luck happen--whether we realize it or not. Sometimes it's a matter of seeing opportunities that other people don't. Other times it's a willingness to network, make new friends, try the unusual, and zig when other zag.

As we worked on this book, we got insights from some of the smartest psychologists, scientists, doctors, and researchers around. We talked to Hollywood producers and TV stars about they made luck happen, and we met with well-known business executives and entrepreneurs. We learned from top experts how you get lucky in love--and we discovered how parents can make luckier children.

 

Writing this book changed my perspective on life. I now understand that we can't control everything in our lives--but we can influence a lot more than we ever believed.
